There are three major pitfalls that are responsible for our slow metabolism. But before I go there, I want to ask you something.
What do you think happens every time we eat toast with cereal? A bowl of Wheaties? Or even Special K or Raisin Bran for that matter?

I have to cook, so at least I’m standing up and moving while I am cooking. Some sit on the couch and relax before and after dinner and then we go to bed soon after dinner. Wow.

I know for a fact that when I did an hour of aerobics every day 25 years ago, I reduced my weight and my size by half of what it was after I delivered my first child, in a matter of three months; I lost about 80 pounds. That’s really fast weight loss but I worked my butt off, literally. I want that so badly for myself again today. I don’t know why I just don’t go for it but I do remember how hard I worked to get there.
I proved that I couldn’t do it without exercising though, because I tried. Once my metabolism was back up to what it should be which took me about three months, I was eating anything and everything that I wanted to eat without a care in the world. This was good for about 7 years.
Then I got pregnant again, and gained the 80 lbs back. Then my thyroid got sick and had to be removed. I tried to lose weight, I exercised and walked a great deal. I was in “okay” shape but as I got older I became more depressed.
Our Third pitfall: Our consumption of anything wheat and whole grain; and that means even those foods that are preaching they are “high in fiber”. Such as 100% whole wheat breads, whole grain pastas, bran flakes and other wheat-based “fiber filled” cereals, and yes even whole wheat tortillas or wraps. These are the worst things we could possibly put in our stomachs. Don’t even think about the “corn” thing!
It doesn’t matter one bit that these whole wheat products might have more fiber than any of the yummier white products just like them. These high fiber foods have been a real culprit in destroying our blood sugar.
By consuming these four high fiber foods, we have caused our blood sugar to spike, and spike, and to keep spiking; and that causes our fat-storing hormone, insulin to rise. So now, we’re at the highest glucose levels and not only is it destroying our organs, but it is also causing us to get plaques in our brain, this is the cause of Alzheimer’s Disease.
This little diddy should amaze you and it’s a fact; “eating two slices of whole wheat bread raises our blood sugar higher than a full can of regular sugar sweetened cola or a whole sugary candy bar”. I was shocked and really mad (pissed in fact).
For years I have been purchasing the most expensive; over five bucks a loaf, whole wheat with seeds and all because I trusted that the ingredients were good for me. No one has ever told me until now, that our wheat has been desecrated to the point that it might as well be pure sugar.
I trusted that I was getting whole wheat kernels from the pastures you see waving in the winds as you drive through the country; because they were so healthy for us. It’s how I justified spending so much money on a loaf of bread.
But this is really the cause of our blood sugar problems today. Listen to me; the “wheat that we get today is nothing like the wheat that we had generations ago”. Today our wheat, among many other grains and even fruits and vegetables now, have been genetically modified by the food industry.
“Our grains have been mutated and exposed to industrial toxins and enough radiation to force an unnatural higher yield.” Oh yummy and this is what is in that five dollar loaf of bread I bought? Great news. Just as bad as the radiation that our government has authorized to seep into our drinking water!
If man were to eat natural, whole foods, and nothing but natural whole foods we might be able to close down a whole lot of polluting, chemical abusing industries, toxic waste making, smog producing businesses. We might even be able to stop the major polar cap melt that is happening.
But in order to do this we’d have to stop drinking carbonated drinks, stop buying bakery goods, stop eating potato chips and other snacks, stop buying candy from large factory candy makers, probably even have to close down some slaughterhouses.
We would have to take our world back to a time when we began to abuse the earth, just because we had the means to do it. It would be like just because we make the best cheesecake in the world, now we are going to mass produce them and use every power at our fingertips to get them all the way around the world instead of keeping our little cheesecake factory business right here and local. Let them make their own cheesecake in their own country. Just an analogy.
The high fiber and whole grain foods that we are eating today are harmful even though food manufacturers are telling us how healthy they are for us. These particular food products are one of the major causes of our obesity epidemic, especially in western society, today.
Because these foods are so rapidly digested, they provide no metabolic benefit for any of us, and while we are trying to digest them, this has ugly results for us. We are left with horribly sluggish metabolic rates and our bellies are just getting bigger and bigger which is now beginning to show up in other major countries; and thus worldwide.

Insanity; we are living in an upside down, insane world as far as our eating habits are concerned. Our tastebuds are so corrupt that we have no idea what good food for us tastes like anymore. We are a nation addicted to sugar and its by-products.
